How to distinguish between horizontal, vertical, and submersible slurry pumps?

  • Release time: 2026-08-31

Slurry pumps are divided into three mainstream structures: horizontal, vertical, and submersible. The production scenarios they are suitable for vary significantly. Choosing the right structure can reduce infrastructure and maintenance costs.
The horizontal slurry pump is the most commonly used model in mining, beneficiation, and desulfurization projects. It is arranged on the ground as a whole, easy to disassemble and maintain, and suitable for high flow, continuous and stable transportation conditions. The disadvantage is that it requires a matching irrigation and water diversion device.
Vertical submersible slurry pump, with the pump body immersed inside the slurry pool and the motor placed above the liquid level, does not require complex shaft seal water and is suitable for slurry pool discharge and pit slag discharge. It is not suitable for long-term continuous operation of high concentration coarse particles.
The submersible slurry pump operates inside the medium and comes with a mixing mechanism, eliminating the need for water injection. It is suitable for working conditions such as river dredging and large liquid level fluctuations. Attention should be paid to the temperature of the medium, the upper limit of particles, and strict adherence to the immersion depth requirements.
Only by selecting the pump structure based on the on-site installation space, liquid level conditions, and medium conditions can the optimal performance of the equipment be achieved.
